Epic Run Summit

First Annual Epic Run Summit

Sunday, November 10, 2019

Parkview Field, Fort Wayne IN

3- 8 PM

Join Epic Racing Events and the Epic Run Club at the first annual Epic Run Summit at scenic Parkview Field in downtown Fort Wayne. Join us for a night of education, inspiration and fun. We will start the evening with educational sessions geared at some of the most common issues runners face like injury prevention, nutrition, motivation and more. There will be local running-oriented businesses on hand to provide information to runners about the services they offer. Then we will have time to visit with your fellow runners over a delicious meal with open bar. Over dinner awards will be given to finishers of the 2019 Epic Race Series. Finally, the highlight of the evening will be a presentation by professional ultra-runners Sabrina Stanley and Fort Wayne’s own, Avery Collins.  Both runners are currently recognized for being at the top levels of their sport as sponsored professional athletes.

Here is a brief description of Avery's background.  Since he started ultra-running in 2012 Avery has worked hard to make a name for himself in the sport. His 2017 season being the most impressive to date. Avery won every race he entered (Georgia Death Race, Quest for the Crest 50k, Hahn's Peak Hill Climb, Continental Divide Trail Run 50k, and Grindstone 100 Miler).  Ultra-Runner Magazine seemed to agree that he had an impressive year, and awarded him 9th, for Ultra Runner of the Year 2017.  He followed that up with an impressive 11th place finish in 2018 at Tor des Geants 330K in Italy and this year he has won Quest for the Crest 50K and most recently the always tough Fat Dog 120 in Canada.   When he isn't training for his next race he can be found gliding through the trees on his snowboard, or breaking speed limits on his bike exploring the surrounding country roads of Steamboat Springs, CO where he calls home.

Here is a short description of Sabrina's background with running. Sabrina was a passionate runner for many years, in 2016 she decided to try her hand at becoming a competitive ultra-runner. In 2017 she finished 2nd at Sean O'Brien 100k, 2nd at Jemez 50k, 3rd at the prestigious Western States 100 and 5th at Run Rabbit Run 100 Miler. In 2018 she finished 3rd at the HURT 100 Miler and later won the Hardrock 100, the prize race in ultrarunning.  She shows no sign of slowing down in 2019 with first place finishes for women at the Hurt 100, Cruel Jewel 50 miler and the Never Summer 100K in July.  With each race she learns a little more about the sport, and truly believes she has only scratched the surface of her potential.  Her motto is "To be the best, you have to beat the best". When she can find the time, she enjoys writing (mostly about running), reading, skiing, and lifting. Although she calls Steamboat Springs, CO home, it's common to hear her gush about the amazing trails in Breckenridge, CO.  We hope you can join us for a fun, educational and inspiring evening for runners of all ages and abilities.
